Welcome to the official website of Qingdao Moriki Mayflower Model Co.
Mayflower Modeling Offers a large selection of new products from many well known model makers. They guarantee the highest quality and fair prices, as well as exciting challenges and beautiful details.
BlueJacket models present significant challenges for even the most expert model builders, and their historical accuracy is often second to none. Disar, on the other hand, offers excellent builds and accuracy, but may be easier for new builders to assemble.
BlueJacket has produced a variety of ship models spanning different time periods. A good example is the 310-inch Destroyer model ship. This is an intricate prefabricated model with a wooden hull. The ship is also painted in the iconic military gray paint that contrasts with the completely red lower belly. The model perfectly captures the essence of the ship with its four funnels even in its silhouette.
This particular "Four Bagpipes" model is based on the Weeks class destroyer series. 111 of them were built by the US Navy between 1917 and 1919. The first of this fleet was known as the aircraft carrier USS Weeks, named after U.S. Navy Captain Lambert Weeks. She weighed an incredible 1,247 tons and was armed with four 50-carb guns, a pair of 1-pounders and a dozen torpedo tubes.
BlueJacket has a long history dating back to 1905. They were founded by a U.S. Navy Department architect and head of the Washington, D.C. Naval Model Shop. They are the oldest ship modeling company in the United States, specializing in designed and manufactured wooden kits and accessories. All work is done by their craftsmen, not outsourced.
While BlueJacket does build ship models such as destroyers and more modern vessels, they also delve into classic aspects of the marine world. A prime example is the Charles P. Notman, a massive bulkhead built by Percy and Small Shipyards in Bath, Maine in 1894. This was actually the first large ship they built. She was described as a four-masted Downeast Schooner. the name comes from the geographic shape of Maine's coastline.
Another excellent example is their rendition of CNS Alfred, shown below. This expert kit features an extremely high level of detail and sophistication. The prefabricated wooden hull is complemented by an impressive mast and bow. The ship was originally named "Black Prince" after Edward, the Black Prince, but was renamed Alfred in 1775 after the United States acquired her. This was in honor of Alfred the Great, the 9th century English monarch. CNS Alfred was commissioned as a warship, but in her later years would continue to be a merchantman, sailing between London and Jamaica.
Disar:
Disar mainly focuses on building old ships, some even dating back to the Viking era. Disar's Viking Drakkar model is one example. Drakkar originates from the ancient Icelandic word for dragon, but nowadays it usually translates as longboat. As you can imagine, these craft are long, fairly narrow and very light to avoid draft. Each side of the hull is lined with oars, which can sometimes form thirty rowing stools. Drakkars are known for their elegance and ornate decorations, but they are also quite unusual. While they are all very beautiful, the only thing that sets them apart from the rest is the carvings of wild animals on the bow. Some consist of bears, while others carry incoming eagles and hawks.
Another excellent model made by Disar is the ship San Luis Galleon. This particular frigate took part in the Battle of the Dunes, fighting the French and Dutch during the Eighty Years' War, which lasted from 1568 to 1648.
Gargoyles are often used as armed cargo carriers by European nations. They were large and had multiple decks, allowing them to carry large crews while maintaining strong firepower and defense capabilities. With three or more masts, they were the backbone of maritime trade between the 16th and 18th centuries.
Disar Models is known for bringing new and unique models to market that are faithful reproductions of the ship, using quality wood and innovative technology, combined with a variety of other components that truly capture the essence of the ship's history.
Hasegawa:
Hasegawa is a Japanese model ship manufacturer that specializes in building a large number of vehicles including aircraft, cars, ships, armor, spaceships, and even sci-fi kits. Their kits consist mainly of polystyrene and are considered to be very accurate while providing an extremely difficult challenge for expert kit modelers.
For Mayflower Model Making , Hasegawa specializes in militaristic Japanese artifacts. A good example is their rendition of the IJN battleship Nagato. Launched in November 1919, this particular mariner was the first of eight dreadnoughts belonging to C's combined fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The super-dreadnought Nagato was named after Nagato Province in southwestern Japan. She carried supplies for the survivors of the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.
The ship was subsequently modernized in 1934 and these upgrades continued until 1936. These upgrades included improved armor, machinery, and a completely rebuilt pagoda-mast superstructure. Nagato did participate briefly in the Second Sino-Japanese War in 1937 and was the flagship of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto during Pearl Harbor. She then also participated in the Battle of Midway in June 1942, but otherwise never saw combat.
Hasegawa is known for the intricacy and detail of each model, and the historical accuracy is often second to none.
Koldstock:
Kolderstok specializes in 17th century Dutch model ship kits. They offer a wide variety of famous Dutch ships, known for the ships themselves and the men who sailed them. They guarantee sophistication and attention to detail, as well as amazing historical accuracy.
A prime example is their view of Willem Barentsz's expedition ship, also known as the White Swan. This was due to its brightly colored white masts and the ship's pure white lower belly. Willem Barentsz used it in his discovery of the Arctic Archipelago, now known as Svalbard. This particular expedition took place in 1596 with the aim of finding a safe passage to northern Asia. However, the ship encountered ice near Nova Zembla. The seventeen crew members on board were subdued to face the winter. They had to use absolute willpower to survive the harsh winter, and for the next six months they were trapped.
By the spring of 1597, the expedition ship had still not been freed from the ice. The crew decided to seek help via a smaller ship. However, as some of the crew left to seek help, Wilhelm Barentz became seriously ill and subsequently died on June 20, 1597.3 The crew was unable to find help.
After blizzards, scurvy, food shortages and even one polar bear attack, the crew reached the Russian mainland, but when they returned to the expedition ship with help, Barents was gone.
Kolderstok often uses handmade walnut boards, decorative panels and trim. Additionally, they refer to real photographs to construct their models and plan to try to encapsulate every ounce of historical accuracy. The pieces are laser cut and the entire model also includes a plethora of luxurious fabrics that give it a historical feel.
Master LaBelle:
The Masters of Corabelle focused primarily on late 18th century ships. A good example is their execution of the Brigantine Phoenix. This was a Greek-built vessel that became part of the Black Sea Fleet in 1787. She was armed with a dozen guns and became part of the fleet when the war with the Ottoman Empire began to intensify.
The 12-masted schooner Phoenix required a crew of 52. During the Russo-Turkish War of 1787-1792, she took part in several battles, including one off Fidonisi Island. She also took part in the battle off Tandra Island, where she managed to capture a 10-gun Turkish brig.
She was actually officially listed as a "cruiser" in the Russian naval list and was ordered to sail in search of enemy ships in the summer of 1788. Two years later, the ship was used to transport supplies between Kherson and Sevastopol. Throughout 1790, Phoenix carried out several missions and even captured 10 Turkish freighters. She remained in service until 1803, when she was finally decommissioned and dismantled.
This particular model includes double planked bulkhead construction with wood that has been intricately cut and laser measured. The manufacturer also guarantees that the model is durable, as they are assembled using hull planks and pre-cut shapes. This ensures that the hull is reinforced and stabilized.
Master Korabel hails from Russia and their models are designed to be easy to assemble while maintaining the highest level of enjoyment. The laser cutting technology used is highly innovative and captures the finest details.
