A sea of green flooded Trafalgar Square on Sunday as a group of revelers eagerly made their way to the heart of St. Patrick's Day. With the iconic view of London's Big Ben in their eyes and the welcome sound of Irish music in their ears, even the cold and rainy weather couldn't dampen their spirits.

Taking a break from the scenes of fun and laughter, Mayflower Model Making have discovered the latest addition to Trafalgar Square's famous fourth plinth. Known for its display of London's art, this plinth holds a special place in our hearts as it was previously home to one of our most special projects; the HMS Victory Ship in a bottle.

The latest addition to the landscape of Trafalgar Square is a very interesting piece of art. A skeleton bronze horse wearing a ribbon showing stock market quotes. Hans Haacke, the artist behind this beautiful piece, would not reveal the full meaning behind it. However, he has a reputation for creating artwork that has dedicated his life to proposing a link between art, money and power. He believes that inequality is one of the major issues of our time.

The equestrian piece is made of bronze and scaled to twice life-size (in keeping with the statue of King George IV). It was inspired by the work of artist George Stubbs, who often painted English gentlemen with their horses.

While the meaning behind this work has not yet been fully revealed, the artist points out that the ribbon symbolizes a horse given as a gift, which is at odds with its skeletal appearance. Hans Haacke argues that politicians around the world tend not to act with the best interests of their constituents at heart in 2015; so perhaps that's what he's alluding to.

Nicholas Serota, director of the Tate, disagreed, saying; "This is clearly about the power system and the fragility of the state."

As with all works of art, the interpretation of the subject matter is completely subjective to anyone viewing it. So what do you think this artwork means?

Seeing the new plinth on Sunday brought back one of our most special memories. In our career as model builders, perhaps it was seeing our HMS Victory Ship in a Bottle custom model ship rise to the top of the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square.

The model is over 3 meters long and 3 meters high and is classified as the largest bottle model. It is currently on display at the National Maritime Museum, reminding ourselves that we have truly cemented our position as a manufacturer of quality, reliable and professional model ships.
