Dutch shipbuilder Moonen Yachts has refitted the hull of its fifth Moonen Martinique model, codenamed Project YN203.

The construction milestone took place at the Talsma shipyard in the Netherlands, ignored by representatives of Moonen Yachts and naval architects Diana Yacht Design, as four heavy-duty cranes carefully rotated the steel hull. This is the first time that a Martinique hull has been built by an external shipyard.

Construction begins on fifth Moonan Martinique yacht

Moonen Martinique is a 37.8 meter tri-deck superyacht designed by René van der Velden as a "home away from home". This particular hull is slightly larger than its sister ship, thanks to an extended sunbathing platform and an extended swim platform that offers an additional 8 square meters of space through an integrated folding platform.

Ian Vermoen, Moonen's project manager, said, "It is an exciting time to see the hull of YN203 in sailing position."

The interior offers a volume of 337GT and will be designed by London-based Studio Indigo, which also handled the interior design of the first Martinique hull called Brigadoon. Accommodations will house 12 guests and seven crew members.

The fifth hull was sold in 2022 and is expected to be delivered in 2024 in time for the owner to take full advantage of the Mediterranean cruising season. The completed hull will have a top speed of 16.5 knots and a range of 4,000 nautical miles when cruising at 10 knots.

YN203 will now be transported to the Den Bosch shipyard in Moonen for outfitting.
