Moriwood Mayflower Models is working on some very exciting projects with great attention to detail. They reflect our desire for perfection, historical accuracy and customer satisfaction. We are always looking to improve our products with every project that comes through, so the following builds are excellent examples of the company's growing ambitions.

We are currently building two impressive models for IMI Critical, a Type 45 Destroyer and a savvy Submarine. This piece is very unique as these two models will actually be combined into one case to create a single scenario as shown below:

Type 45 destroyer:

The Type 45 destroyer will sit at the top, a stunning replica of its real-life counterpart. Only six were built by BAE Systems Maritime and all six are still in service with the Royal Navy. Each ship cost around £1.05 billion, including research and development. Although there are very few of them, their capabilities are seemingly endless. The Type 45 destroyer is designed primarily for air defense and anti-missile warfare; built around the PAAMS air defense system. This is a system designed primarily to predict the flight path of an airborne threat and then eliminate it as quickly and effectively as possible. It tracks, targets and subsequently destroys high-performance attackers, including supersonic cruise missiles, fighter jets and even drones. The system is capable of launching eight missiles in less than ten seconds and can simultaneously guide sixteen missiles. Working alongside this are state-of-the-art long-range radars; the SAMPSON ASEA S1850M, which are proficient enough to lock on to more than 1,000 targets simultaneously within an incredible 400 kilometer radius. The concept is very similar to the Iron Dome system that has been deployed at air bases in places like southern Israel.

A guided missile destroyer will never be incredibly fast, however, considering the Type 45's massive weight of 8,500 tons, it can still travel at 32 knots, which is equivalent to 37 miles per hour. To reach this speed, the Type 45 had to be powered by a number of huge engines. These include two Rolls-Royce WR-21 gas turbines, each producing 28,800 horsepower, and two Wärtsilä 12V200 diesel generators, each producing a further 2,700 horsepower. This may sound like a lot, but this incredible level of power would be useless without the ship's propulsion components. As a result, the Type 45 has a pair of electronically integrated shafts with two GE Power Conversion Premium induction motors and VDM2500 drives, each of which then produces another 27,000 horsepower. When horsepower is measured linearly, the Type 45 produces 58,500 horsepower. This figure is astronomical and truly reflects the absolute power and strength of the modern dreadnought.

Now of course, warships have to be fully armed, and the Type 45 is no exception. It was equipped with long-range missiles, Harpoon anti-ship missile launchers, an MK 8 gun, a pair of 30-mm cannons, miniature machine guns, close-range weapon systems, and even the basics such as machine guns, rifles and pistols. It can accommodate up to 285 crew members and the entire ship is fitted with coated Kevlar.

This model is a completely special replica of its real-life brother, thank goodness it's just smaller, slower (and actually immobile), and less dangerous. It's clad in the infamous military gray color and comes with all the aesthetic features such as radar, cannons, and of course, the bridge.

Below the Type 45 will be a Savvy Class submarine. These are the world's newest, most powerful, stealthiest, and most technologically advanced nuclear-powered submarines. In total, seven were planned to be built between 2001 and now. Five have been completed, four of which are currently in service with the Royal Navy. Each one cost over £1.65 billion and every inch and piece of technology is absolutely state-of-the-art.

In order to withstand the immense water pressure at depths of up to 980 feet, Astute Submarines must be incredibly durable and resilient. They weigh 7,400 tons, but jump to 7,800 tons when underwater and at depth. The thick armor prevents any leakage and can withstand gunfire and even some torpedoes and missiles.

They can resist not only water pressure and weapons, but also time. Savvy-class submarines can circumnavigate the entire globe underwater. They constantly produce their own oxygen and drinking water and can store food for months for a crew of 98. A Rolls-Royce PWR 2 nuclear reactor powers the Astute submarines, which are capable of traveling at 30 knots, which is equivalent to 35 knots per hour.

For such a high-value asset, these particular submarines must have a large reserve of weapons. They are armed with torpedoes, cruise missiles and even heavy torpedoes that can shoot down destroyers. A large number of sensors and radars are also installed, including the Thales Sonar 2076, the Atlas DESO 25 echo sounder and a pair of Thales CM010 optical masts. These allow the submarine to anticipate certain threats and ultimately neutralize them, as well as plan routes.

The model is an excellent replica of a real machinist class submarine, complete with periscope, propeller and many other features.

For the Vard Group, Moriki Mayflower Models is building state-of-the-art models replicating the world's best-selling submersible: the U-Boat Worx Cruise Sub. they are multi-purpose luxury submersibles with optimal seating capacity. This particular range; "The Cruise Sub" series, is available to cruise ships, high-end tour operators, deep-sea researchers, documentary production vessels, and even expedition vessels. They can accommodate from 5 to 11 people, and some of them can dive down to 300 meters, while others can reach the extraordinary depth of 1,700 meters.

The performance they offer is second to none. They are not only luxurious, but also very reliable and efficient. They feature swivel seats that are designed in a way that facilitates two different views; one on each side. Customers also have the opportunity to extensively customize the interior and exterior, giving the vehicle a more personalized touch. Divers can be tweaked and modified to accomplish a large number of different tasks, which is why they are so popular. For the high end of the spectrum, people may choose to customize the interior of their private Cruise Sub, such as custom lounge seating, toilets, and even privacy screens.

The Cruise sub-series was launched in 2018 and has grown exponentially and been successful since then. Over 15 models have been designed, assembled and sold and deployed in sustained dives. These submersibles are the absolute pinnacle of deep sea diving exploration and as such have achieved record sales and great success. They are the most desirable submersibles in the world.

The most recognizable of the series is the U-Boat Worx Cruise Sub 7. It remains the record holder for the largest capacity deep diving submersible. Immediately after its launch in 2018, the Sub 7 gained great recognition for its versatility and adaptability. The U-Boat Worx has accomplished several dive records, proving to the world that deep diving is now possible for the whole family. It's a six-passenger, one-pilot vehicle, a configuration that offers an unrivaled experience. Deep diving is often associated with words like daunting, trying and difficult. But with the luxury and comfort of the exclusive line of U-Boat Worx submersibles, that perception has changed and is now more appealing than ever.

Above is the endoskeleton structure of the Cruise Sub 7 Submersible model. It is an excellent replica of its real-life counterpart, and the exhaustive work that went into this project reflects the diligence of Morioka Mayflower Models, as well as our authenticity, attention to detail, and desire for quality.

For Pearman Watlington & Co, Morioka Mayflower Models is undertaking the ambitious task of building a replica of the world-famous Bermuda SS Queen. This is a British turbine-electric ocean liner belonging to Furness, Withy & Co Ltd. She is known not only for her service as a cruise ship, but also as an armed merchant ship and even a troop carrier during World War II.

The Queen Bermuda SS was built to replace the irreparable MV Bermuda, which was destroyed by fire in 1931. She had only been in service for a little over three years, so Furness & Wessex had to make sure that the Queen Bermuda was far more reliable so as not to further damage their reputation. She was built at a shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness, then launched in September 1932 and fully completed in February of the following year. What was shocking at the time was the size of the ship. She was over 550 feet long, with a beam of 76 feet and a draft of 27 feet. The SS Queen of Bermuda also had the capacity to store refrigerated cargo as well as more than 700 passengers, most of them in first class.

The ship is most recognizable by the three black and red funnels sitting on top of the white body. They stand tall and proud above the ship as the steam rolls in when the ship can reach a top speed of 19 knots, which equates to about 22 miles per hour. To generate this level of speed, the Bermuda SS Queen was equipped wit h a massive eight water-tube boilers totaling 40,000 square feet of heated area. These boilers then supplied steam to two separate steam turbines, which drove generators that powered electric motors, which then drove four screws. This complex but simultaneously linear system was quite efficient for the time and helped to maintain the life and reliability of the ship.

She was known as the Bermuda SS Queen because she was a sister ship to the Bermuda Monarch and was registered in Hamilton Harbor, Bermuda.
