Mayflower Modeling Recently worked with Andrew, an excellent modeler who handcrafts all of his products to add a personal touch. His company is run entirely by him and he has always had a love of both ships and model boats. He has been sailing for seven years and has been modeling since the age of five! His passion for his work is deeply reflected in every project, and the handcrafted techniques mentioned earlier demonstrate the sophistication and care he takes with his work. When asking Andrew why he prefers handbuilding, he said, "It's a better way to get a feel for the ship, learn about it, etc."

While Andrew has yet to delve into the field of 3D printing, he is looking to expand into it. However, the quality of each model is very important to him, so the printers will only serve as a way to accommodate his workload and meet deadlines. They will not replace his own building techniques, as he prefers to build models with his own two hands. In particular, his company specializes in vintage ships, with vessels spanning the 17th to 19th centuries always being the most popular.

Remarkably, Andrew has also done some incredible work on more modern pieces, even including vehicles such as airplanes, cars and helicopters! One of these projects is particularly impressive - the HMS Fearless.

The ship itself was a Royal Navy amphibious assault ship, in service from 1965 to 2002. The ship is most notable for being the last steam-powered surface ship in the Royal Navy. In addition, HMS Fearless was an integral part of the Navy's commitment to Operation Enterprise in 1982, better known as the Falklands War.

She was equipped with extensive modern satellite communications equipment, making her one of the most advanced ships of her era. Her first assignment was to act as a command platform for British counter-terrorism operations in Aden, a former colony of the British Empire near Yemen. After Aden, HMS Fearless hosted talks in 1968 between British Prime Minister Harold Wilson and Ian Smith to determine the future of Zimbabwe, then known as Rhodesia. Ian Smith, then Prime Minister of Rhodesia, decided to declare independence from Britain. One final piece of trivia about HMS Fearless is that she appeared in the 1977 James Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me, cementing her place in media history and reflecting the importance of the ship.

Andrew managed to capture every intricacy, every finite detail and every feature of their rendition of HMS Fearless. Its perfect structural integrity and shape perfectly mirrors its real-life counterpart, and the entire project is a perfect testament to Andrew's passion for his work.

In addition to the recently completed build of the HMS Fearless, Andrew has worked on two Talisman charter yacht models.

The level of sophistication shown above is second to none, with even the smallest details captured on the tee. The sophisticated outdoor space is seamlessly complemented by crisp white paint and tinted windows, as well as a low-profile glass shield for deflecting wind.
